SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Contribution of Fair Trade to community development.
Fair trade helps small coffee producers improve their income and living conditions. Thanks to fair trade, producers can participate in responsible and ethical supply chains. In addition, fair trade generates decent employment at the local level. reducing migration and family disintegration.

In addition to the direct benefits to producer families, fair trade shares its benefits with the community, through projects financed with the fair trade premium or with projects financed by importers or roasters for the benefit of the community and its producers.

These are some of our social projects financed with fair trade premium funds or in collaboration with our clients.

Fund for the development of women
The empowerment of women is key to guaranteeing their transformational participation in society, focused on their economic development, the prevention of violence and promoting their participation in decision-making at the family, community and company levels.
The role of women is key to equitable development in communities, for this reason continuous training in different areas is necessary, in such a way that allows them to play their transformative role in society more competitively and avoid their marginalization.
To achieve this, Pacayal develops the gender and development program where both women and men receive training on the importance of the empowerment and participation of women in decision-making, and in the social and economic development of the community.
As a result of this process, the La Unión women’s group arises, who market their feminine coffee together, also develop economic activities together, have their own rural fund and have a poultry farm.

Fund to support young producers
A growing concern in the coffee industry is who will continue to produce coffee. Many young people do not want to continue working in the countryside, they see it as a very undervalued job. In addition, many are willing to migrate from the countryside to the city or in search of the long-awaited dream American.
In October 2019, during the celebration of the SCTA conference, under the motto “the future looks different,” industry leaders focused their thoughts on the new realities of the industry under the scenario of millennials and generation Z, without a doubt it is a challenge for both producers and consumers.
In this scenario, Pacayal Coffee promotes the Coffee Like project, where young producers systematically learn each of the faces of the industry, starting with the planning of their coffee farm under a sustainable approach and continuous improvement, through training in Q processing. , cupping and barista in order to develop young coffee entrepreneurs passionate about sustainable and high-quality production

Biosafety and first aid kit for the 2021 collection
With the new reality in the era of covid-19, which poses new challenges and also new opportunities, our commitment is to always support our producers so that they can adapt to these changes and continue working together.

To reduce the risks of contacts and achieve the harvest of the harvest, Pacayal Coffee has trained our producers, in addition to providing biosafety material, in order to adopt a safe coffee harvesting protocol for everyone.

In this initiative we have been joined by our friends and business allies such as Sustainable Harvest Inc, from the United States and Root Capital Inc, who with their contributions have made it possible for our producers and workers to stay safe.

Humanitarian support to families affected by Hurricane ETA and OITA
In addition to the challenge of the Covid 19 pandemic, 2019 was a very hard year for our country, 2 strong hurricanes hit our territory in November, causing a lot of pain and mourning in Honduran families.

Producers were strongly affected with crop losses, landslides, floods, loss of their homes and destruction of access roads to communities and coffee farms. The northern part of our country was catastrophically destroyed, as if it were a horror movie. , our people showed solidarity and those least affected helped those most affected with what they could.

We also appreciate the helping hand of Sustainable Harvest, Trabocca, Bailies Coffee Roasters and Les cafés Dagobert, who were attentive to our producers and quickly sent their solidarity support. It is a gesture that we will never forget, proving to be part of fair and ethical supply chains. Thanks to your support, we continue working on the gradual recovery of our products
